Global Dependence On Fossil Fuel - 1485 Words
The proportion of Renewables must increase to around 50% of the energy mix in most countries and is expected to be over 70% in countries Brazil and Africa. Energy efficiencies and low carbon energy carriers for heating and cooling can decarbonize electricity, significantly reducing the share of fossil fuels to less than 50% in the total energy requirement. Sharing best practices across borders can help transfer innovative technologies and support energy transition plans for many of the developing countries that are majorly dependent on coal as a primary source of energy. Over the coming years the dependence on fossil fuel will have to gradually reduce and much of investment must go into making this transition possible. Governments, international corporations and other investing parties that can back-up small entrepreneurs, suppliers and local universities in their research and sharing of knowledge across the spectrum of value chain. International collaboration and continuous dialogues between the stakeholders to share both risks and benefits of such collaborations can facilitate knowledge sharing. This will result in technologies being transferred across borders to decarbonize development and The International Energy Agency (IEA) thorough its institutional activities is involved in collaboration of energy technology. The following are few of the initiatives (Energy Technology Perspectives, IEA 2015): i. Enabling innovation through 39 co-operative agreements which includeShow MoreRelatedHow Can The United States Lessen Its Dependence On Fossil Fuels?1302 Words à |à 6 PagesHow can the United States lessen its dependence on fossil fuels? Joan Milton Western Governorââ¬â¢s University How can the United States lessen its dependence on fossil fuels? Introduction The U.S obtains more than 84% of its energy from fossil fuels including oil, coal and natural gas. This is because people rely on it to heat their homes, power industries, run vehicles, manufacturing, and provision of electricity. It is apparent that the countryââ¬â¢s transportation industry highly depends onRead MoreThe Effects Of Climate Change On Fossil Fuels1431 Words à |à 6 PagesThe definition of climate change is ââ¬Å"a change in global or regional climate patterns, in particular a change apparent from the mid to late 20th century onwards and attributed largely to the increased levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide produced by the use of fossil fuels.â⬠(Google Dictionary). Due to our dependence on fossil fuels as our main source for energy and our carbon dioxide emissions over decades, climate change has rapidly emerged on Earth. Yet, we still have those who deny any scientificRead MoreBio-Fuels Are Better than Fossil Fuels1336 Words à |à 6 PagesFossil fuel pl ays leading role in upsetting environmental, economical and climate protection. Our earth is at catastrophic risk by the exploitation of fossil fuels. Therefore, pressure is on to find viable alternatives for energy to bring a stable, safe and clean revolution. In that case, bio-fuels make an attractive alternative for energy than fossil fuels. Various provocative questions need discussion that what are the attractive differences between both the fuels? Why fossil fuel dependence isRead MoreFossil Fuels : The World s Primary Energy Source952 Words à |à 4 PagesFossil fuels are currently the world s primary energy source. Fossil fuel includes coal, natural gas, and oil. In 2015, The United States consumed 97.7 billion btu of energy, 81% of that was from fossil fuels (U.S. Energy Information Administration, 2016). Fossil fuel use will cause air and water pollution that will negatively affect all life on Earth. In 2012, it was estimated that air pollution caused 6.5 million deaths w orldwide (WHO, 2016). These pollutants can worsen or cause respiratory andRead MoreThe D. Eisenhower s Atom For Peace Program1414 Words à |à 6 Pagesour country trying to take the lead in the global warming initiative, we must look at all the available renewable options and weigh them against each other. I believe that our government must continue its funding for nuclear energy because of its potential benefits for the environment and economy. To begin, we must first examine the underlying problem that makes nuclear energy so necessary: global warming. Global warming describes how our average global air temperatures have been increasing withRead MoreAlternative Energy Resources and Human Dependence on Oil Essay1016 Words à |à 5 PagesAlternative Energy Resources and Human Dependence on Oil Introduction The modern world is fuelled by oil (Youngquest, 1998). This reality has brought tremendous changes and developments that is continuously transforming the modern period, changing its lifestyles and economies in the last 200 years. However, these changes do not only paved for modernization and development, but it has also paved for the environmental crisis that the world is now facing (Bodley, 2008). Environmental crisis refersRead MoreGlobal Warming And Its Effects On Our World1578 Words à |à 7 Pagesdevelopment in fuel technology, more and more money is being invested into finding greener sources of energy. However even if the research is in the way there is a problem that must be addressed first for it is the source of the pollution that is affecting our world. That issue is over dependence and extreme consumption of fossil fuels. First-world countries are partly responsible for hindering third-world development, because countries like the United Statesââ¬â¢ over dependence o n fossil fuels has gone uncontrolledRead MoreAlternative Energy And Renewable Energy1668 Words à |à 7 Pagesgrown, as well as our dependence on them. Nowadays, power and electricity are in every facet of our daily lives. Due to this, we overlook several negative effects our traditional use of fossil fuels have caused. Fossil fuels are fuel deposits that were formed hundreds of millions of years ago, which is where the term fossil fuels come from. The two most common fossil fuels currently in use are coal and oil, which power the majority of our infrastructure. However, fossil fuels are known to have someRead MoreOur Dangerous Dependence on Fossil Fuels Essay703 Words à |à 3 Pagesdepends on fossil fuels in many different ways, from travel to large industries. What will happens when the world runs out of fossil fuels? Renewable energies have the power to save our environment and change the world as we know it. Fossil fuels are not going to last forever. America has already star ted to implement renewable sources of energy, such as, wind mills, dams, solar power and nuclear power. Eventually we will need to utilize these resources in areas that are dependent on fossil fuels. FossilRead MoreFossil Fuels And Its Effect On Our Health1195 Words à |à 5 Pages Currently, Fossil fuels are the primary source of energy in Canada because of the inexpensiveness, but they are immensely affecting our society and environment. Fossil fuels have been our primary source of energy from a long time which accounts for a substantial amount of the carbon dioxide in the air. The demand for fossil fuels is still high and the supply is slowly decreasing since we have been using it. We should retire fossil fuels and standardize the use of alternative energy. Alternative
